1. Fertile Crescent- fertile land that two river enclose.

3. City- state- a city that has its own laws and government. Otherwise a country in the form of a city
4. Dynasty- a sequence of rulers from the same family, stock, or group: the Ming dynasty.
5. Cultural diffusion- in anthropology, the process by which a cultural trait, material object, idea, or behavior pattern is spread from one society to another
6. Polytheism- the doctrine of or belief in more than one god or in many gods.
7. Empire- land ruled by a person
8. Hammurabi- king of Babylonia.
9. Delta- a place where the mouth of a river or stream meats a larger body of water.

12. Theocracy- a form of government in which God or a deity is recognized as the supreme civil ruler, the God's or deity's laws being interpreted by the ecclesiastical authorities.

15. Hieroglyphics- ancient writing in the form of pictures.
16. Papyrus- money.
17. Hyksos- a nomadic people who conquered and ruled ancient Egypt between the 13th and 18th dynasties, c1700–1580 b.c.: believed to have been a Semitic people that originally migrated into Egypt from Asia.
18. New Kingdom- when a new leader takes place of an old one or when people declare land theirs.
19. Hatshepsut- queen of Egypt.
20. Thatmose III- a ruler.

37. Siddhartha Gautama- the fourth son of the son o the grandfather of the son of moses.

39. Nirvana- a famous rock star.
40. Mandate of heaven- to demand to go to heaven
41. Feudalism- the principles and practices
42. Confucius- Chinese philosopher and teacher.
43. Filial piety- thought, one of the virtues to be cultivated, a love and respect for one's parents and ancestors
44. Bureaucracy- government by many bureaus, administrators, and petty officials
45. Daoism- philosophical system developed by Lao-tzu and Chuang-tzu advocating a simple honest life and noninterference with the course of natural events
46. Legalism- strict adherence, or the principle of strict adherence, to law or prescription, esp. to the letter rather than the spirit002E
47. I Ching- Chinese book of ancient origin consisting of 64 interrelated hexagrams along with commentaries attributed to Confucius. The hexagrams, originally used for divination, embody Taoist philosophy by describing all nature and human endeavor in terms of the interaction of yin and yang
